POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES

The aggettivi possessivi express a possessive relation and indicate the belonging of a noun.

Example:
" Marco abita in una casa in campagna, la sua casa è bella. "
In this example the possessive adjective 'sua' indicates that the house is Marco’s.

Attention:
Possessive adjectives always refer to a person.

For this reason in Italian there are 6 different possessive adjectives, one per person:

• MIO  (referred to the first person singular)

  Example:
  "Hai rotto il mio orologio?"

• TUO  (referred to the second person singular)

  Example:
  "Questa è la tua macchina?"

• SUO  (referred to the third person singular)

  Example:
  "Ieri siamo andati alla sua festa."

• NOSTRO  (referred to the first person plural)

  Example:
  "Abbiamo fatto il nostro dovere."

• VOSTRO  (referred to the second person plural)

  Example:
  "Al vostro posto ci saremmo spaventati."

• LORO  (referred to the third person plural)

  Example:
  "Mi preoccupo del loro benessere."

Note:
Mio, tuo, suo, nostro and vostro are normal adjectives a 4 uscite. Loro is an invariable adjective.
