TIME ADVERBS

Time adverbs are invariable parts of the speech use to describe the moment of time when the action happens.

Example:
"Domani vado a Roma."

These are the most important adverbs:

• oggi, domani, ieri, ora  (indicate the time in relation to the date)

  Example:
  "Oggi è domenica."

• prima, dopo, durante, presto, tardi  (indicate the time in relation to an other event or action)

  Example:
  "Mi lavo le mani prima della cena."

• ancora, spesso, mai, sempre, allora  (indicate a frequency or a repetition)

  Example:
  "Marco va spesso al cinema."

Attention:
The adverb mai in negative sentences reinforces the negation.

Example:
"Io non mangio mai la cioccolata."
In this example the adverb mai reinforces the negation non and the sentence always has a negative meaning.
