Simple prepositions in Italian are 9: DI, A, DA,
IN, CON, PER, SU, FRA, TRA.
These prepositions have different functions.
All the prepositions introduce a specific grammatical element (complemento).
The preposition and the complement complete the meaning of an other grammatical element.
Example: "
La porta di casa è aperta.
"
In this example the word house (complement) specifies the meaning of the word door which is connected to with the word di (preposition). The door isn’t a general door, but it belongs to the house
