The participle mode is the mode that often has the value of an adjective or substantive.
When it is used as noun it takes the characteristics of the noun, when it is used as adjective, it agrees in gender and in number with the noun it refers to.
Example:

Questa è la macchina comprata da Marco.
"
The participle mode has 2 different tenses: - participio presente
(present participle, simple tense)
- participio passato
(past participle, compound tense)
Attention:
In the present form, it usually has an active value.
In the past form, it can give an active or passive value to the action.
The past participle is used to construct the compound forms of the verb.
Example:
"
Marco ha fatto un viaggio.
"
Note:
This mode is called the implicit mode because the form of the verb does not express the subject.
