PASSIVE VOICE

Passive voice express an action which is undergone by the subject by an external agent.

Example:
" Il topo è mangiato dal gatto. "
In this example, the cat performs the action of eating the mouse.

The passive form is constructed with the verb essere conjugated in the normal form + the past participle of the verb which becomes passive.
The verb essere gives the type, tense, and person to the passive verb.

Examples:
" Marco è molto amato dai colleghi. "
In this case, the passive verb is the present tense

" Marco sarà molto amato dai colleghi. "
In this case, the passive verb is the future tense

The past participle of the verb takes the gender (masculine or feminine) and the number (singular or plural) from the subject.

Example:
" Antonio è considerato antipatico, Sara è considerata simpatica. "

Note:
Only verbs which can have a direct object can have a passive form.
