CONCORDANCE OF INDICATIVE SENTENCESYou are here: syntax > period > concordance > indicative If the main sentence expresses certainty or reality generally in the dependent sentences there is the indicative mood. The times of the sentence are determinated in relation to the time of the main sentence.
Examples:
"Mi hanno detto che il mese scorso c'era stata una riunione importante."
In this example the time of the main sentence is a past and the dependent sentence takes the past perfect.
"Mi dicono che ieri c'è stata una riunione importante."
In this example the time of the main sentence is a present and the dependent sentence takes the present perfect.
