CONCORDANCE OF SUBJUNCTIVE WITH THE PAST IN THE MAIN CLAUSE

If the verb of the main clause is past and the main clause wants the subjunctive,

in the dependent sentence we find the following verbal forms:

• pluperfect subjunctive  (expresses anteriority)
• imperfect subjunctive  (expresses contemporaneity)
• past conditional  (expresses posteriority)
