TRANSFORMATION OF DEMONSTARTIVES AND ADVERBS IN DIRECT SPEECH

In the transformation from direct speech to indirect speech some adverbs and adjectives have some changes.

Examples:
" Marco diceva: «Questo è ora il ristorante più alla moda.» "
" Marco diceva che quello era allora il ristorante più alla moda. "
In this example have changed: the demonstrative pronoun and the time adverb.

These are the main changes of adverbs and adjectives:

• the adjective or demonstrative pronoun questo becomes quello

  Example:
  "Tu dici: «Questa è mia moglie.» ---> Tu dici che quella è tua moglie."

• the place adverbs qua and qui become là and lì

  Example:
  "Tu dici: «Sono qui a Roma.» ---> Tu dici che sei lì a Roma."

• the time adverbs ora, oggi, ieri and domani usually become allora, quel giorno, il giorno prima and il giorno dopo

  Example:
  "Marco dice: «Domani vado a Milano.» ---> Marco dice che il giorno dopo va a Milano."
