TRANSFORMATIONS CONNECTED TO THE SUBJECT IN THE INDIRECT SPEECH

In the transformation from direct speech to indirect speech the subject has some changes.

Examples:
" Marco dice: «Io e le mie figlie abitiamo a Milano.» "
" Marco dice che lui e le sue figlie abitano a Milano. "
In this example have changed: the personal pronoun and the possessive adjective.

These are the main changes connected to the subject:

• the subject transforms it self at the person of the subject of the clause that supports the indirect speech

  Example:
  "Tu dici: «Vado a Milano.» ---> Tu dici che (tu) vai a Milano."

• the possessive pronouns referred to the subject change if the subject changes

  Example:
  "Tu dici: «Mia moglie si chiama Lucia.» ---> Tu dici che tua moglie si chiama Lucia."

• the personal pronouns change with the subject

  Example:
  "Marco dice: «Io vado a Milano.» ---> Marco dice che lui va a Milano."

Attention:
These changes don't happen if the subject of the clause that supports the indirect speech is IO.
