MIXED HYPOTHETICAL PERIOD

The mixed hypothetical period doesn't follow the schemes of the hypothetical periods of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd kind.
The mixed hypothetical period has two fundamental forms and meanings.

These are the two kinds of mixed hypothetical period:

• Se + pluperfect subjunctive - present conditional  (the condition is in the past but the consequences happen in the present)

  Example:
  "Se avessi studiato di pił ieri, oggi supererei l'esame."

• Se + imperfect - past conditional  (the condition is general, valid no matter the time, the consequences are in the past.)

  Example:
  "Se non fossi una persona coraggiosa, non avrei raggiunto questi risultati."
