COMPLEMENTO DI TEMPO (COMPLEMENT OF TIME)

The complement of time indicates when the action happens.

• determined time  (indicates the exact moment the action happens)

  Example:
  "Il treno arriva alle 7:30."

• continuous time  (indicates the duration of the action, when the action expressed by the verb continues)

  Example:
  "Marco lavora per otto ore."

To define time there are also other expressions:

• prima di  ("before" indicates an anteriority relation)

  Example:
  "Esco prima delle 7:30."

• dopo  ("after" indicates a posteriority relation)

  Example:
  "Torno a casa dopo le 20:00."

• da  ("since/for/from" indicates beganfrom (since) which moment the action began)

  Example:
  "Marco č a Roma da 3 giorni."

• fino a  ("until" indicates the moment the current action will finish)

  Example:
  "Noi rimaniamo a Milano fino a lunedė."

• ogni  ("each" indicates a single periodical repetition)

  Example:
  "Marco paga l'affitto ogni mese."

• "x" volte a  (indicates how many times an action occurs in a range of time, a multiple periodical repetition)

  Example:
  "Vado in palestra 3 volte alla settimana."

• fra/tra  ("in/within" indicates the moment a future action will begin)

  Example:
  "Il treno arriva fra 10 minuti."

• in  (indicates the time it takes to end an action)

  Example:
  "Finisco l'esercizio in 15 minuti."
