USE OF THE INDICATIVE PRESENT

Is a simple tense of the indicative mood, it has regular and irregular forms.

These are the main uses of the indicative:

• indicates an action or a condition existing now, exactly when i'm speaking

  Example:
  "Ora vado a casa."

• with an adverb or a time information can indicate the future

  Example:
  "Domani vado a New York."

• indicates an action that recurs regularly

  Example:
  "Marco va al lavoro tutti i giorni."

• indicates a general condition of a person or of an object

  Example:
  "Il dottore cura i pazienti."

• is used in the proverbs

  Example:
  "Il mattino ha l'oro in bocca."

• is used to relate historical events

  Example:
  "Colombo scopre l'America nel 1492."
