There are three base kinds of tenses: the present, the past and the future.
All the moods of the verb have the present, all the moods except imperative have the past, only the indicative mood has the future.
Moreover there are two different tenses to express the future and five different tenses to express the past in italian.
On the grounds of the form, tenses are divided in: - simple
(only a word forms this tense)
- compouns
(two or more words form this tense: the auxiliary + the past participle)
